Server with Virus
One of my Clients got a problem, he
called me and said that the server hangs frequently, he called me
and I quoted him at $150/hr to solve the problem and he said it is
too expensive. And mention that he can get someone who do it for
$30/hr ! I mention to him that if he called me up again and then I
will have to charge him double, And he called them, they came and
found many virus in the server and straight formatted it! Then he
called me up and ask me what to do? I told him that I will charge
him $300/hr to fix the problems and still he mention it was too
expensive and can get someone else to come at only $80/hr. The guys
came and install the server OS and mention that, that is all they
can do as all the data wiped off and they cannot do anything! And in
the server they have their 10 years accounts in the server not
backup before it was formatted.
Called me up again and ask me how
again, I told him that I will come and recover the data at $600/hrs
like I mention to him the last time and if I am unable to recover
any data for him there will be no charge and finally he agree. End
up having to pay $2400 to recover everything. I help to recover all
the dates and also the software that they runs on the server for the
account packages. Well like I always says you pay peanuts you get
monkey. if they get me in the first place they probably have to pay
about $300 as all I need to do was the clear the viruses but now
having to do a data recover on a formatted hard disk there are lot
more things that have to be done!
